but he really wanted to share his Valentine 'card' idea. :

and a few goodies.

Exactly what my little girl said when

her aunt showed up with this....

OH YES it is!!

Her very own PInkalicoious POODLE chair made from BATH LOOFAHS and mini poodles!

I must say it was the HIT of the party.

The idea was found from Martha Stewart.com

The folding pink chair was store bought and everything else is magically done wiiiiiittttthhh

A Glue GUN!!!??? Yes Ma'am.. It does stay!!

AND YES.... this was much more appreciated from the little 'SAScinators'

than my homemade rinky dink cupcake liner decorations that i slaved over the night before!

ha.

Homemade icing was made with Love from Grandma.

My Sis -n -Law made the Pinkalicious Bouquet

Strawberry Shortcake the clown face painted and made pink poodle balloons.

i made these for halloween.

They are slimy flarp filled Monster favors made from tissue paper. E-A-S-Y!

They were supposed to be a practice run for the Monster Birthday Bash i had all planned out..

in my head for Lott.

I used a half sheet of tissue paper for each and tied them with ribbon.

Eyes and card stock for mouth.

Flarp was found from walmart in the kids's dollar section.

Happy to be here and Happy to introduce you to my new friend.

Last week was the first Beauty Boot Camp.

It turned into two friends....

I told the cashier at the grocery check out to give me three one dollar eco bags.

She started putting my food in them and thought i was one

of those cool eco friendly tree huggers .

Sorry Lady..this is for crafting not food...ha!

However, we may use them for our library books.

The kids cut 6 inch by 1 in. fabric pieces(ribbon is cute too!)

They doubled them over and stapled them at the top.

I used a glue gun to glue ribbon around the edges to hide the staples.

Each girl received a 5 page booklet jammed packed with fun Beauty tips.

We tried some of the new fun eyeshadows by Mark (Avon's teen line.)

Teeny Bopper magazines.

Each place setting included Make-up brushes, a clear gloss, folder with booklet inside , candy and a Duck Tape Bow :)

I didn't do a lot of diagramming in this one...but i do list a few favorites.

First..Check out Christy sporting NO makeup and ZERO wrinkles!!

Rimmel eyeshadow in Cafe Latte and Avon's Glazewear gloss in RAVE.

These were the two things that really stood out.

This pink gloss made the the perfect statement with her fun navy dress.

Christy introduced me to this Rimmel eyeshadow and I have to say..

NOT bad!

It went on pretty smooth and looks Hot! Go Rimmel

and GO Christy!

Christy has really coarse hair.. so Big Sexy hair spray had the perfect strength for keeping things under control!

clarification.. a hair clip..and my happy place

Ok..

I know I've posted about St. Ives in the past, but i just want to clarify which one my skin likes best. We all know how confusing the drugstore shelves can look!

It's the GREEN one that says Invigorating.

I have normal to dry skin...but i still think it's the safest route for all skin types.

I also really like Maybeline's eye makeup remover in the Pink bottle.

It does have oil...but it WORKS!?

I wish i had the guts to just do it!

My little girl is growing like a weed!

Bows are BIG.

Tanks are comfy.

Sewing is fun.

The weather is Hot.

I'm off to the pool with the kids....

so i only have time for a few words ..Short blogs..and Simple crafts. :)

Here is a 20 minute Big Bow Tank extender..inspired by Debbie Gibson!

I sewed a long piece of fabric together ( about 44 inches) with good sides touching. I left the ends open and then turned it Inside Out. Next, tucked the ends in, ironed, and sewed the ends together. * I then sewed the fabric piece to the bottom of the shirt leaving a gap on the side. ](see diagram)

Tie the TWO pieces hanging in a Double Knot to create a BIG Bow.

I remember her asking for Barbies and now..

I can't believe she is asking for Makeovers !! :(

Taylor starts middle school this August ...

so her Mom thought it would be fun to give Taylor

a personal makeover that included a lesson on all things Girly.

(Hair styling, Makeup, and skin care)

The above photo shows Taylor with her prior highlights.

We thought they looked a little brassy so I took her to see ..

Amanda at Shear Sjolander salon.

I call her the Highlighting QUEEN-Just wait and see!

But first..

We started off talking about skin care and fun tips for creating a healthy glow.

I used Maybeline's concealer stick in Light beige under her eyes and

Avon' smooth mineral powder foundation in Soft ivory.

Mineral makeup is the perfect solution for teen skin!

It stays on ...covers...and looks completely natural!

1. Avon's smooth minerals blush in Blushing Mauve

2. White shimmery eye shadow used from Avon's 12 in One eye shadow compact

3. Light tan Eye shadow from Avon's 12 in ONE eye compact all over lid

(I used a pop of blush between the white and tan color.)

4. Brown sugar glimmer stick eyeliner rimming the entire eye

5. White shimmer eye shadow in corners

6. Avons's ultra color rich lipstick in Sheer Naturale

7. Avon's glazewear gloss in Clear

Taylor usually straightens her long layers with a flattening iron...

However, i wanted to change things up a bit.

SO..I showed her how to get wavy locks using a curling iron.

I'm packing up from our beach trip right about now and thought I could sneak this quick post in.

This was a total score with the kids!!!

I recently came across a seashell collection bag on a blog and thought..How Cool!!

SEW..

when i ran across these dollar lingerie bags at Walmart..

I just knew they would work great for straining and collecting seashells....or

75 hermit crabs..... ewww!

Just add a little fabric dye and ribbon to make them extra special!

Hot Mama Makeover- Red Hot!

This is Sharm..

She came to us on a Friday afternoon and we had a blast preparing her for a Girls night out!

I talked a little bit already on how to get Sharm's flawless skin last week.

(Scroll down to Saturday's post if you missed that.)

I also wanted to mention that i used a Maybeline concealer stick in light beige around her eyes and a sweep of Avon's smooth mineral powder all over .

This gives a hint of dewiness to the face which ultimately gives a healthier glow.

(Sharm has normal to dry skin)

* I do not suggest using this powder around the eyes because it can create unwanted lines!

oh..and for those who aren't loving Revlon Colorstay foundation..

here are two more heavy coverage foundations that work well

Double Wear Stay in Place foundation by Estee lauder

and

Aqua Smooth compact foundation by Cover Girl.

Up Next..the coffee bean trick

This one container of fresh beans not only held my brushes in place but had the whole place smelling like fresh hazelnut coffee...Mmm

Now for Sharm's eyes.

To get Sharm's Natural eye look..

Try applying Avon's Cocoa Glow mineral shadow all over lid

A White or Cream shadow on the Brow bone ans in the Corners

Dark brown shadow on outer corner

Brown Sugar glimmer stick eye liner- Rimming the top and bottom

Smudging a light brown shadow under bottom lid eyeliner

Curling lashes

Applying 2 heavy coats of Black mascara

HOT TIP:

Sometimes black liners can look harsh!

Try using a dark brown liner to help compliment a natural tone pallet.

I used Avon's glazewear gloss in Mocha latte and a peachy pink blush.

HOT TIP

I applied foundation on the lips first to act as a primer.

Hair

Sharm's trendy cut and color came from Crush salon in Houston, Tx.

I think in Hair dresser terms it's called the "Disconnected Bob."

I teased the roots with a fine tooth comb and used a straightening iron on the ends to

help bring out the fun texturizing that went along with this cut.

Now..

Sharm is about to get ready for her Girl's night out.

This calls for an outfit change and Smoky eyes!

Hair:

Sleek and Straight to Hot and Tousled.

I left her bangs down and teased the roots behind them.

I added spray gel all over and used a 1 inch curling iron in a backwards direction.

I call this a Good Going Out make-up!

Normal, Dry or Oily skin...this stuff NEVER fails!

Two of my favorite shades are

Golden Beige for medium skin and Buff Chamois for light skin

HOT MAMA TIP:

When searching for the right foundation in a drugstore...be on the lookout for

Yellow Undertones NOT Pink !

A foundation with pink undertones can leave a Not So Pretty baseline.

Yellow undertone makeup can help cancel out Redness and look more natural .

This is what Cyndi recommends for disguising blemishes.

First.. a few dabs of Maybeline's Cover stick concealer(blended well)

Then..Maybeline's Dream Matte Mousse blended on top and all over face.

This is a heavy coverage foundation with a light powdery feel-for oilier skin types!

(I have dry skin and mousse foundations separate on my skin making it appear dryer..

so WARNING to my dry skin readers.)

Three 1in.X16in. fabric scraps

a small hole cut on both ends

A rubberband tied to each end.

Me using my toes to braid.

(I left about 1 inch undone on the other end and did the same hole technique with a rubberband)

This is what the end result looks like.

I tied her hair in a pony with one band..then wrapped the braid around and used the other band to secure.

Just knowing that Dena spends most of her days planting seeds of improvement for women in difficult situations made me more than happy to help Dena get ready for her Big Date night!

The key to creating a Extra Hot look is similar to Decorating a ROOM!

Create a focal point!

(similar to Pottery Barn)

This means...

Go Heavy on the Eyes and Light on the Lips OR Heavy on the Lips and Light on the Eyes!

(This does not mean Pitch Out your natural daytime makeup look!!!)

In Dena's case..

I wanted to play up her Bright Aqua Eyes!

*I rimmed the entire eye with black eyeliner.

BIG HOT LIP TIP:
Use a lighter shade of gloss and apply directly to the middle portion of the lips only.
This will highlight the lips and make them a bit Poutier.

Now for Dena's hair

I first sprayed Dena's hair with Herbal Essences Tousel Me Softly Spray Gel.

I then used a large barrel curling iron to curl sections in a BACKWARDS direction.

HOT TIP- Don't curl forward..this can create an outdated look.

Also..

Dena and I both agree that she looks better without bangs.. so I brought Dena's longer layers forward to cover up her recent bang job.

Here is a picture of that..

I also used bronzer on her face for contouring and a pink shade of blush.

Next... We created a Hot Bump using bobby pins.

(This is a fun technique for elongating the face!)

To make Dena's eyes POP even more..

I used a smudge brush and applied dark shadow under her bottom lid eyeliner.

(Remember..I first rimmed her entire eye with black eyeliner)

Summer just got here and it's already too HOT!

I ran over to Family Fun.com and found the directions for making fluffy flip flops.

(Super easy for ages 6 and up!)

Then..

I ended up adding a little something to the recipe.

Something Sweet and something to help keep Cool!

(another craft)

1. Glue long fabric strand to one side of headband

2. Wrap strand around headband until you reach the other side..then glue down the end.

1. Cut Seven 1X6 pieces of fabric with pinking shears.

So when I found out my Aunt Mary was coming over for BBQ yesterday..

I knew it was the perfect opportunity!

Here is a little pictorial along with SIXTY plus tips.

Mary before:

Hot Mama tips for 60 plus

1. Wear Blush!

( This creates a healthy and youthful appearance)

2. Wear a complimentary lipstick or gloss.

(You want to draw attention to the mouth..Smiles don't age!!! :)

3. Try using dark brown liner instead of black.

4. Apply a dark shadow over eyeliner using a smudge brush.

(This sets the eyeliner and keeps it from running into wrinkles.)

5. Wear foundation and avoid powder.

(Powder can sometimes make wrinkles appear deeper)

6. Avoid shimmery shadows.. but shimmery lipsticks are ok !

(Shimmer enhances wrinkles)

7. Keep eyebrows waxed.

(This creates an instant eye lift!).

8. MOISTURIZE!

9.Wear concealer under the eye.

10. Try applying liner and mascara to the top lid ONLY.

(This can help make the eyes appear brighter and more awake)

Happy Happy Friday!

I was supposed to be doing a Hot Mama makeover right about now..

but that got rescheduled.

So....i thought it would be a good time to post some Hot Mama lip tips.

Here is Tip 1

Take a wash cloth and run it under hot water.

Run it back and forth across your lips about TEN times.

You will be AMAZED at how soft your lips will feel!!!

Tip 2

Always apply foundation or concealer on you lips before applying lipstick.

This will help give the true color of your lipstick shade.

It basically acts as a primer.

Tip 3 smile! :)

Meet Kristi

A Glowing Soon to Be Mama of TWO.

Kristi and I first met a stylist named Amanda at a salon called Shear Sjolander.

Amanda immediately took the bulk out of Kristi's hair by using thinning shears.

She then added soft highlights using a toner.

We were also introduced to the most amazing products.

It's a TEN

(Hair mask and Leave In conditioner.)

Awesome stuff!

We then met back here... my friend's vacant guest house/big ol farm table.

(Just in case you were wondering :)

Speaking of houses..

Here is the 'key' to a good 'Foundation'

EXFOLIATION plus MOISTURIZATION!

I prefer St Ives Apricot scrub..the one that says Invigorating.

after that

Revlon Colorstay foundation and Maybeline's coverstick

Next I applied Bronzer.

Mark's Glowdaciuos Illuminating powder in Shimmied Up by AVON.

Here is a fun picture to help diagram.

Don't forget your neck and chest!

BIG HOT TIP

Bronzer also makes the perfect eyeshadow for a natural daytime look.

I applied white shimmery shadow on the top brow bone.

(this helps lift and and brighten.)

I then applied the bronzer all over the lid.

along with dark grey liner rimming the entire eye.

Now for a Love story between TWO glosses.

'Mauve Movement' and 'Tickled Pink'

Now for something Hot!

This is Jennifer.

Wife and 'SEW at Home Mom'

Yes..Jennifer runs the cutest Sewing business right out of her Cozy 'Cottagy' home.

and Yes...

she does NOT have any makeup on in this picture.

Jennifer, you look 12...Not Fair!

Jennifer recently colored her hair back to dark brown.

She had bright highlights for the past 5 years and said it was time for a change.

Wow , it makes her green eyes pop!

...

I started with Revlon Colorstay foundation

It has a matte finish and works great for oily or dry skin.

It lasts too!!!

Don't forget your foundation on the lips...

(i will tell you why in another post)

Next the......

I used Sugar Plum glimmer liner by Avon, Maybeline Cover stick(voted #1 by Allure Mag), Avon's 'Blushing Raisons' eye quad, Loreal Voluminous Black mascara

You can also create this look with Maybeline's Lavender Smokes.

The Goal:

To play up Jennifer's green cat eyes with Bold colors that compliment them.

1.Lightest shade on the top brow bone 2. The medium shade all over lid.

3. Darkest shade in outer corner crease. (I also went over the outer corner with a dark brown)

4. Blend all together with Blend Brush 5.Line top and bottom lid with Sugar Plum liner.

6. Place dark shade of shadow under the bottom lid..under liner.(to help add drama)

7.TWO coats mascara

To achieve Jennifer's Hot lips...

try Maybeline's Berry Dazzle shine sensational gloss.

(MY FAV!!!)

Here is a picture of Jennifer's finished makeup with straight hair .

BIG HOT TIP

Add a small pop of the light shimmery shadow to the inner corner of the eye.

It will add a little extra twinkle and brightness

We wanted to create a tousled look so we first sprayed the hair all over and then used the iron to create waves.

Hot Mama Makeover-Easy Breezy Beautiful

Meet Brandi

Wife.. Mama... and Super Hard Worker

Brandi has to be at work BY 630 AM :(

She tries to fight traffic along with her Wavy hair every morning..

Not fun!

I thought it would be smart to show her ways to enhance her waviness..

rather than trying to fight against it!

Kinda like this...but still blonde.

She also wanted some Hot makeup tips!

So i introduced her to my

good friend

AVON 12 in ONE

(I am liking this way more than the Avon's eye shadow quads!)

I feel like i can accomplish pretty much any look with this palette.

Plain Jane all the way to complete Drama Queen!

But here is a tip..

Remove the applicators and use a good brush or a clean finger tip!

It makes ALL the difference with this!!!!!

I thought the shadow crumbled easily until i realized it was just the cheap applicators.

What a deal too!

I LOVE discovering affordable beauty finds .

I hope to get my online store up and running by this weekend!

Enough about that..

I also used Maybeline's concealer stick in Light beige, Loreal Voluminous Mascara in Black carbon, Avon glimmer stick in Dark brown, and Avon smooth minerals blush in Blushed rose.

ALSO..if you love Bare Minerals foundation you will LOVE AVON's smooth minerals! I find it to be the most compatible.

Next, i put a pop of blush right on the apples of the cheeks.

This gives a healthy burst of color.

NOW for the hair

BIG HOT TIP:remember to curl back NOT forward when creating waves!

i like to leave a 1 in.piece sticking out too..

This will keep it from looking dated!

Now for the WOW factor

Who knew moving a simple part could make such a statement!!!!

oh wait..

maybe you got side tracked looking at her luscious lips.

I hate to admit this...but i totally forgot what i used!

i can't believe i didn't write it down.

I do know we made a mixture of some sort. hmm

If i had to describe Pinterest it would be like reading a magazine that had all of my favorite things in one place. It's a place you can catalog the things you love. You place a bookmarklet on your browser and any time you see something that interests you, you “pin” it to one of your “boards” on Pinterest. Besides pinning something you find on the internet, you can “repin” something you see on Pinterest and add it to one of your boards.

A mini Hot Mama makeover

It's Monday and I'm feeling Goooood!

I had The Best weekend y'all!

No Kids , four friends, hot pizza, Pjs, and my favorite movie playin..

'The Holiday' with Jude Law! :)

Yep...It was a much needed Girl's Getaway!

We talked, drank early morning coffee, played with makeup, and kept our hair whipped in clips.

Might not sound exciting to most, but total relaxation was our mission!

And thanks to my friend Tara, I get to show y'all a mini makeover.

She brought her favorite foundation(Glo Minerals) and I had my new favorite liner.

It's called SUGAR Plum by Avon.

I swear it looks good on everybody! (blue, green, or brown eyes)

Have you ever heard of Glo minerals?

I consider it to be the mineral makeup choice for those who have oily skin.

Bare minerals seems to have a dewier finish and works better for dryer skin types.

Tara told us she gets it from a dermatologist, so if anyone out there knows another place..

Meet Tara

Wife... Mama..and Recent Grad.

Tara has been Super Busy this year!

Somehow she has managed to Juggle the Impossible!

(school... Mama...wife...and back to school.)

Wow..

Just saying it makes me tired!

Tara contacted me and said she needed a New Look for this New chapter.

How exciting!

I instantly knew I wanted her back Blonde

Some people are just born to be blonde.

and I think she is one of them.

I first gave Tara a quick little STYLE BOARD here to get ideas brewing.

A quick trip back to Keila's Hair design in Crosby for

a sponsored cut. (thanks Keila)

More side swept Bangs and a trim.

Keila then used the flat iron to flip out the sides ...for more Hotness.

You will see later. :)

Tara had highlights added before our appointment.

Going back blonde was first on the list!

BIG HOT TIP:

Tara has very very fine straight hair.

To create a rougher texture (to help create body and for iron styling)

we used a LOT of aerosol hairspray all over the head and in the roots.

I'm talkin'.. In Abundance-lol.

We used the flat iron to flip out the sides.

Now she has that modern day Charlie's Angel look-HOT!

I ran to Keila's hair design in Crosby.

(keila is so cute and her salon is beautiful)

I showed her the picture and she told me the stylists in Mexico call it ..

Jenny came to me and said ..

She is stuck in her Tees and Tennies.

She wanted new makeup ideas, Hair Styling and clothing tips.

With Easter Sunday approaching...

I wanted to take

"Jenny M to Jackie O"

Hair Sray all over before...

Here is the eye shadow palette.

Jenny also wanted new ideas, so we stayed away from everyday browns.

and because we were going with a classic eye...

i decided to stay away from shimmer.

I wanted to draw the eyes up too..

So we used Physicains Formula new Eye Marker on TOP lid only.

BIG HOT TIP

When you use a liquid liner start on the outer edge of eye (not corner)

and then..

Take a deep breath..

and when you release...that is when you glide the liner into the corner.

Sounds like yoga...but it will help your hand not be shaky!

And always glide your liner along the side and not straight on!

If you want that Angelina eye...make the liner curve up like this

Are you wondering what a pinner is?

Well..

It's basically a virtual bulletin board.

Any time you find something you love or a great idea on the web

(party, decorating, clothes...)

Here is a style board I pinned for Crystal.

The goal was to take Crystal from Sweet to Spicy.

The above picture is actually kinda old.

I could just kick myself for not taking a before photo. Grrr

But...her hair was actually a light brown and she had a angled bob.

So..

We first decided to make her dark again

to help pop her big blue eyes.

We used a Semi-permanent (no ammonia) color.

Clairol in Nutmeg.

10 minutes and Bam-Done!

(I do not recommend this if you have highlights!)

Crystal was just a lighter brown.

We then went to Amanda at Shear Sjolander in Crosby

and had Crystal's angled bob

taken off.

WE felt it was too Heavy around her face and that

she needed some layers to help soften her look.

Amanda also used thinning shears to take off some bulk.

We got a tutorial on teasing too.

Amanda used more Powder Play hair product by Big SEXY to give more bump

(you can check out Kristen's new look to learn more about this product.)

Here is a Makeup pictorial to get Crystal's look.

Crystal wanted longer lasting coverage, so we went with REVLON Color Stay foundation!

WE contoured her face with a Bronzer and used very little blush.

(I have heard good things about the Physicians formula bronzer)

We went with a light pink Gloss for her lips!

The goal was a NEW look so went with Gray on the eyes instead of natural browns.

WARNING:

This post will start getting a lot HOTTER

right about now!

oh...i almost forgot

we darkened her eye brows too!
